Sometimes its just best to let regular viewers join the chat and you leave a quick hello to everyone rather than one by one. Often times if you have a busy chat it might look bad if you greet people one by one and you will find yourself creating different greetings so it doesn’t look like copy and paste. Sometimes it will feel like you are going through the motions, especially when its a busy stream but try your best to greet people in groups, individually or as a whole. When I say genuinely welcome I mean to greet people as much as possible and make them feel like you mean it and that its not something you are doing because you are a mod. As a Moderator make them feel genuinely welcome. Once the streamer goes live and you join their stream chat you will start to see people pop into stream chat ready to enjoy the stream. As soon as the streamer goes live it’s time to put that modding hat on, and be prepared for anything. Here I will give you some basic steps on modding a Twitch live stream chat to help you hopefully to manage the chat to the best of your ability.
So you have discussed with the streamer what they require from you as a moderator on Twitch and you have an understanding of the rules they want followed, now down to moderating Twitch chat.
It’s best to have a full understanding of your role so that you don’t make too many mistakes and you keep the chat running following the streamers guidelines. These are just a few questions to help you build up an understanding of what you need to do in your role as a mod on Twitch for a live streamer. What type of comments would you like deleted.Do you want me to respond to questions for you on your behalf?.Do you want me to delete comments in full caps?.Do you want politics and religion kept out of chat?.How do you want me to handle self promoters in chat?.How many warnings before a timeout in chat?.It is very important that you have an understanding of what the streamer requires from a moderator so that you make decisions based on this criteria. Discuss what rules the streamer would like you to follow and what steps you are to take with anyone breaking those rules. Before you can moderate any live stream chat you first need to know what it is the streamer requires of a moderator for the their chat.
